Pakistan Press Club Uk Elections 2016-17 held in London

London: The annual elections of Pakistan Press Club UK (PPCUK) for the term 2016-17 were held as per the given schedule at the club’s office, located in Edgware, London.

Chairman, Friends of PPCUK, Naheed Randhawa was the chief election commissioner on the occasion while founder president of PPCUK Kaiser Imam, and former president of PPCUK, Fayaz Ghafoor, assisted him during the election proceedings.

More than 60 journalists from all over United Kingdom participated in the elections to elect office-bearers for 2016-17 term. As many as 43 valid votes were cast. According to the final results, Arshad Rachyal (ARY News) won the seat of president and Sheraz Khan (Such Tv) was declared senior vice president, in an unopposed manner.

On the slot of secretary general, A Haq secured 35 votes against his opponents Nawaz Majeed (5 votes), and Nadeem Irshad (3 votes). Waseem Chaudhry (Channel44), and Akram Abid (Kashmir Link, London), were elected vice presidents respectively. Other office bearers elected for different seats included Mussarat Iqbal (Dunya Tv) as joint secretary, Tamur Iqbal (Prime TV) as information Secretary, and Haseeb Arsalan (Channel 44) as finance secretary.

On the 6 seats of Executive Committee, Asif Qureshi and Afzal Choudhary secured 41 votes, Adeel Khan got 40 votes, while Rabnawaz Chughtai, Farid Qureshi, and Nisar Gulshan bagged 35 votes each to be declared as winners.

Several dignitaries visited the election premises to observe election process. Lord Qurban Hussain, during his visit, congratulated the winners and said that PPCUK has set an example to conduct election for the eight consecutive year.

Minister for Excise and Taxation, Punjab, Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, said on this occasion that journalist community is a backbone of overseas community. “Since you are outside of your motherland you need to show the better image of Pakistan, which you have been doing this successfully,” he maintained.

Former Advisor of the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Zahid Mughal, also visited venue with his team whereas Mian Muneer, from Watford, appreciated the club administration on holding successful elections for the eight year running.

President UK-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Chairman WCOP, Syed Qamar Raza, former presidents UKPCCI, A Shaheen and Dr Ghulam Murtaza, community leaders, Tariq Dar, Majid Ismail, and Najeeb Ahmed, PMLN UK leaders, Nasir Butt, Malik Riaz, Anjum Chaudhry, Ansar Chaudhry, Rana Shakoor, and Iqbal Sandhu, also visited the venue to witness the smooth conduct of elections.

These are the complete final results issued by the election committee: Arshad Rachyal (ARY News) as President; Sheraz Khan (Such TV) as Senior Vice President; Waseem Chaudhry (Channel44) and Akram Abid (Kashmir Link London) as Vice Presidents; Mussarat Iqbal (Dunya Tv) as Joint Secretary; Tamur Iqbal information (Prime TV) as Secretary; and Haseeb Arsalan (Channel 44) as Finance Secretary.

The winners for the six executive committee seats for 2016-17 term are: Asif Qureshi (Daily Ausaf, London); Afzal Chaudhary (Freelancer); Adeel Khan (AbbTak); Rabnawaz Chughtai (Daily Ausaf, London); Nisar Gulshan (Ahlebait TV); and Farid Qureshy (ARY News).
