London: Pakistani Journalists in United Kingdom are the only platform through which we can present the success stories of Pakistani community in UK. These were views of Lord Nazir Ahmed while speaking on the occasion of oath taking ceremony of Pakistan Press Club UK.
He further said, journalism is very sacred profession and honesty is first necessary of this profession. Lord Nazir Ahmed said, Pakistani community in UK is great full to Pakistani media houses and journalists because they are building positive image of Pakistan in abroad now.
Muzafar Chuadhry from Bestway Group, Naheed Randhawa formed President UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce, Founder National Press Club Mushtaq Minhas, Afzal Butt President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, Qamar Raza from World Congress of Overseas, Dr Suhail Chughtai and Azhar Javed was also on the occasion.
The event started with recitation of verses of holy Quran and stage secretary Natasha Sheikh invited chief guest Lord Nazir Ahmed for taking oath from newly elected body of Pakistan Press Club UK including President Mobeen Chaudhry, Vice President Naseem Siddiqi, General Secretary Shaukat Iqbal Dar, Joint Secretary Majid Nazir, Information Secretary Mussarat Iqbal, Finance Secretary Akram Abid and member of governing body including Chaudhry Muhammad Ishaq, Aurangzeb Chaudhry, Aftab Baig, Imran Khalid and Fareed Qureshi, while Senior Vice President Arshad Rachyal, Vice President Fakhar Tahir and Member governing body Sheraz Khan could not attend this event being out of country.
Speaking on the occasion, Naheed Randhawa former President UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce said that Pakistan Press Club has been working for the betterment of community and image building of overseas Pakistanis. Dr Suhail Chughtai said, journalists in UK can play a vital role in unity of Pakistani community in abroad and due to their efforts now people in Pakistan appreciating overseas Pakistanis; services for their homeland.
Senior Journalist from Pakistan and founder of National Press Club Mushtaq Minhas while speaking on the occasion said, ‘Our political parties should keep their activities within their national territories because Pakistani community in abroad cannot afford another separation in small groups on the name of politics. He said, political parties’ activities in abroad not only breaking the unity of community but also damaging the image of the country.
President PFUJ, Afzal Butt said, ‘Whenever someone put obstacle in the independent way of journalism in Pakistan then Journalists working in abroad always raise voice for their counterparts at every platform. He appreciates efforts of newly elected President of PPCUK Mobeen Chaudhry which he is doing since last one decade for betterment of journalists in abroad. He further said, he’ll present Mobeen Chaudhry’s proposal for amendment in constitution of PFUJ in next couple of months. According to which of members of PPCUK should involve in all projects running for betterment of journalists’ community in Pakistan. And after amendments in Journalists’ housing colonies at least 5 percent share will fix for PPCUK members and other journalists working in abroad, he concluded.
